Writer. NaNoWriMo helped me realize that I can make time for my own dream, 1 lunch hour, late night, & weekend at a time.

Perhaps the top two reasons why Covid-19 is an argument for having had universal healthcare decades ago are:

1. Millions will lose their health insurance soon because health benefits are tied to employment.

2. This. This is what happens when healthcare is a for-profit industry. 3

Just finished In The Shadow of Spindrift House by  @Seanan McGuire. Hit all the haunted house tropes I love and made me fall for the characters in less than half the time full novels barely got close. Well done.

This is my life.

@Lauren  @Seanan McGuire Me, before: Seanan is diligent with her research! Me, now: Seanan, you were more right than I ever imagined was possible and I regret everything can we go back to fiction now please

It's a little horrifying to me to realize that if the NEWSFLESH movie went into production tomorrow, we'd be accused of half the science being ripped from the headlines. When do I get my royalty check for writing reality?

Beginning my yearly reread of "Space Opera" by @catvalente. This book broke me out of horrific writer's block 2 years ago, so I read it every year. With my 18th book still building in my head, I hope it'll help me this year too.

I deal w/ a lot of violent threats, vitriol, etc. But I never get more hate aimed at me than when I address racial inequities. If some people think racial disparities are as much a myth as other issues I discuss, then why do they get so much more violent & angry on this topic?

This season, the elegant young lady is wearing a figured cotton gown and matching mask trimmed with white lace. Coral beads complete the ensemble.

(I used the @nytimes pattern, modified because this was the elastic I had.)

By MY count  @Seanan McGuire should have 3 Hugo Awards for Best Novel. MIDDLEGAME is her best writing to date. What does this mean?  #GiveSeananAHugo

My daughter is a front-line medical worker and was told she’ll face a 15% pay cut due to fewer elective surgeries at the hospital. We must remove shareholders and profit from healthcare. The workers exposing themselves to COVID19 deserve hazard pay, not wage cuts.

WE NEED TO BLOW THIS UP. The US Navy is using *our tax money* to round up medical supplies around the world. Then they are giving these supplies to corporations to *re-sell back to us* via bidding wars between states, FEMA etc. Rear Admiral John P. Polowczyk admits to it himself:

This is remarkable. The US has set up an airbridge for PPE & med supplies to the US from abroad. But in answer to question from @cbsnews @weijia the Admiral explains that this is going through private companies, which explains why states are having to bid to get the stuff.

I feel like accidentally ending a work phone call with "I love you!" is getting way more understandable and less embarrassing lately.

I can't fit this on twitter but maybe it will help you: https://thebloggess.com/2020/04/02/this-is-not-easy-give-yourself-credit/ This is not easy. Give yourself credit.

My #NationalPoetryMonth chalk creations. I hope to quote snippets of poems each day for my neighborhood. It's the only creative thing I can muster right now, and I'm enjoying it immensely. 3

5) I also plainly need to start working on this, because if I don't get my head right, I know first Hollywood party after this is over, some contrarian exec opens his mouth, I’m going to throw hands. /xx

1) Dude I occasionally chat with when walking dogs started on "doctors would close the country for two years" and "it's just old people dying, we're overreacting" and I told him to go fuck himself at top volume in a public park, so maybe I'm not as cool about this as I thought.

Are you  #trans or  #nonbinary and stuck someplace they won’t call you by your name? DM me and we can talk on the phone and EVERY TIME MY KIDS INTERRUPT ME (estimate: eleventy trillion) to ask me who I’m talking to I will use your right name/pronoun. For real, though. I’m home.

I miss skee-ball. I miss pinball. I miss the blinking lights of an amusement park midway at dusk, and the sound of sneakers running off for that last ride on a Ferris wheel, that last taste of cotton candy. It's not like I did all these things so much. I miss the opportunity.

This is why the media HAS to stop just reiterating what he says without the deepest of scrutiny and uncertainty -- and I know that's not every journalist, or every outlet, but no one, *no one* can be a mere stenographer with this guy, because he lies and postures *constantly.*

Hot take: if public schools are shifting to online classes, then internet is a basic service and everyone should have access.

Someone in my DMs very politely accused me of using my social media channels to promote my friends’ work and damn fucking straight I do, I hope you promote your friends’ work on here too

Folks, a small piece of advice: If you're a fan of a creative and/or their work, please listen to them, and believe them, when they tell you which ways their work is being distributed benefit them, and which don't (or may harm them). Support them so they can make more for you.

Only in America could 200,000 dead be less of a catastrophe than 30,000 emails

Found out a coworker went to a sports event in San Jose in the middle of March. Found out my neighbor went to the Bay Area this week and is coming back this weekend. We’re great at staying home. I’m sure this will be over soon.
