This is stunning. Compare the successful but gradual change in support for same sex marriage over 3 decades, which was itself impressive but not fast. (See 2/2 below) Also a big shout-out to  @Civiqs for producing such a valuable time series on this issue. 1/2

Opinion | How Much Is America Changing? - The New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/10/opinion/george-floyd-protests-trump.html

One thing I'll never understand is why some people assume there are no shifts in public opinion. Here's one: support for Black Lives Matter over the last few weeks and years https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/06/10/upshot/black-lives-matter-attitudes.html

New in today's Upshot, we contextualize the large shift in voters' attitudes about Black Lives Matter.

In the span of a couple weeks, support changed almost as much as it had in the previous two years. (With @Nate_Cohn)

Polls show that most Americans believe it is too soon to reopen. https://53eig.ht/3ciuhnF

As a proportion of those employed before the outbreak, one in five American adults have now been laid off or furloughed from their jobs as a consequence of the coronavirus. One in four households have been affected by layoffs or furloughs. New poll: https://civiqs.com/reports/2020/5/6/report-one-in-ten-americans-know-someone-who-has-died-from-the-c...

A new  @Civiqs poll shows how partisan polarization continues to grow over the veracity of the official count of deaths caused by the coronavirus in the United States. 1/
