THREAD: Takeaway messages from our  @Independent SAGE weekly briefing today. (TLDR: cases going up but slowly, act now, ditch central test and trace system, go local and drive cases down for opening schools) 1/9

Sooner or later everyone will need to ask themselves what kind of a Prime Minister would willingly put lives at risk just to keep one of his advisers in a job

Your daily reminder @BorisJohnson. The public have not forgotten how you ignored the rule of law, shut down journalists & experts & put lives at risk to keep your adviser Dominic Cummings in a job.

We have not #MovedOn. NO WAY!

There comes a time when corruption is so rife there is no point not being bent yourself. You don’t want to pay CGT on your buy to let properties? Transfer title into one or more offshore companies. Everybody is doing it after all, even Tory MPs & their cronies. And since it ..

It looks as if a situation bordering on corruption - maybe real corruption - took place in the awarding of COVID19 contracts by the Cabinet Office in April/May The truth needs to be fully exposed. I suspect this will make or break the next Cabinet Secretary

We’ve recruited “4,336 Police officers” @BorisJohnson proudly announces in anticipation of our gratitude completely forgetting the Conservative Gov’t has cut 21,000 of them since 2010, along with 23,000 police support staff & closed 600 police stations!

£900 per person contacted. It’s not the NHS wasting money, though. This isn’t an NHS app. This is the Govt wasting taxpayers’ money on an insecure private company’s app and over-centralised system. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8602305/NHS-accused-wasting-eye-watering-money.html

Think about this for a moment... Our Govt gave £225m of taxpayers’ money to a £100 company, owned by a friend of Minister Liz Truss, for PPE that cannot be used... Yet people are living on the streets, children go hungry each day.  #ToryCorruption

Boris Johnson continues to say he believes Mr Cummings behaved reasonably and he considers the matter is closed. RT this if you disagree with him on that  #MatterNotClosed

Am I imagining this, or is Pestfix, who took £100m of taxpayer’s funds, now using taxpayer’s money to pay lawyers to try and prevent the taxpayer from finding out where their funds actually went? This is why we need an inquiry into the government’s awarding of PPE contracts.

Andrew Mills knew so little about  #PPE that he actually cocked up a £250million deal that should have been easy to deliver. Thankfully, the Good Law Project has made him a national figure of shame for his greed & lack of concern for public safety.  #PPEcorruption  #Mills  #LizTruss

A shocking story, raising questions about potential  #CORRUPTION and  #cronyism at the heart of the  #Johnson government...

50 million face masks bought by the government in April won't be used in the NHS due to safety concerns. But that's only half of the story of the government's PPE contract...

Almost every village or town in Spain and France has a public use municipal sports club, swimming pool or leisure club. This is funded by local taxation or central government funding. Please retweet if you think that we should do the same in the UK.  #saveleisure

The beggars belief. An adviser to Liz Truss, through a shell company owned with his wife, has made approximately £30m PROFIT on masks that don’t work. Read this thread. And write to your MP!

Can everyone please click below and give it an RT? Thanks

This doesn’t pass the smell test. “Health officials signed a £252 million contract to buy masks for frontline healthcare staff from Ayanda Capital in April in a deal brokered by a government adviser who also advises the company’s board.” https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/ministers-waste-150m-buying-unusable-masks-from-banker-5v8390xtp

If you think it’s an outrage that  #BBCBreakfast can allow a Gov’t minister to tell it’s millions of viewers this blatant untruth & than fail to correct it RT

A Government Minister today told BBC viewers

“We’re testing 335,000 people a day” for #Coronavirus

That’s completely untrue! On latest data it’s only 52,000 people a day!

This has got to stop!

Brexiters, before the pandemic: "Hey, let's smash the UK economy, and our friends the vulture capitalists and hedge funds can clean up." Brexiters, now: "Why wait? We can loot via fake PPE, dysfunctional contact tracing programmes, dodgy medicines, the sky's the limit!"

We have done some calculations on what Prosper mill Limited/Andrew Mills/Ayanda made from this deal. And, just, wow.

Coming up: the most extraordinary thread I’ve ever written. On how we blew over £150m and Andrew Mills (a Government adviser) seems to have made a fortune. But let’s start with introductions. THREAD /1

Soon the cost of  #COVID19 is going to hit hard in higher taxes and reduced public services and people will resent it because Johnson has squandered so much on dodgy contracts for dodgy mates and untold billions on a ruinously expensive ideological pipe dream.

So far pretty much everything about Brexit is happening exactly as predicted by remainers back in 2016. Nothing predicted by Brexiters has come true at all.

#TheWeekInTory is a monster today because they’ve been, well, even busier than usual, the scamps 1. The dictionary definition of Honour is, “the quality of knowing and doing what is morally right”. Keep that in mind as we tackle the Honours system

Firstly, France, Italy and Germany have a proper Track & Trace process. Secondly, France, Italy and Germany have a proper Track & trace process. Now I do realise that technically those are both the same point, but it's such an important one, I though it worth mentioning twice..

Really quite extraordinary at this stage

Border control today at London’s Heathrow Airport: No social distancing. Border control officers not wearing masks. Mine said she didn’t have to (signs everywhere saying “you must wear a face covering in the terminal”). Hand sanitizer at her booth empty. Seriously??

Imagine if you signed a massive contract in your job, having dismissed all calls from colleagues who wanted to examine it more closely. Then, nine months later, you start whining about having missed crucial stuff in the ‘fine print’. Your feet wouldn’t touch the ground.
