Been thinking a lot about this. Are we really saying we’re all comfortable with giving the highest-paid £50 off their restaurant bills but not giving the lowest-paid any access to statutory sick pay nor help to self-isolate? Don’t know about you but I’m not. #EatOutToHelpOut

Nobody knows. Nobody is pressing Serco for answers. Parliament has gone on holiday. If Labour is holding the govt to account on this, I missed it. Test & trace is entire foundation of our entire virus suppression strategy. AND IT DOESN’T WORK
This is why the germans have covid under control and we don't
I retweeted this y’day but retweeting it again today. The peerage list is an inflection point. The old rules are dead. Decency, shame, accountability. We the press, public & parliament need to take serious stock. This is a Trumpian moment. Johnson has changed politics. So must we
Six years ago, Lebedev wouldn’t answer @Private Eye Magazine questions on his (still unresolved) tax status...
The reason the UK has one of the highest Coronavirus death rates in the world is clear: Repeated Government failures. To try to blame Muslims and BAME communities is disgraceful. It's blatant racism. We cannot let the Tories play divide and rule. https://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/ian-payne/muslim-bame-communities-coronavirus-pandemic/
Born #OnThisDay in 1923 was chemist Stephanie Kwolek, best known for her invention of Kevlar. For this invention, Kwolek was awarded DuPont's Lavoisier Award, and at the time of her death in August 2019 was the only female employee to have done so. http://www.rsc.org/diversity/175-faces/all-faces/stephanie-kwolek/
Would @Matt Hancock like to publish the evidence for this statement? If there is test and trace data that shows households meeting other households (within their properties) is the main cause of increased transmission, then let’s see it published #COVID19
Looking forward to my first virtual conference 👍
Looking forward to this online conference on Monday!
In a nutshell, this 👇 To save lives To save the economy Towards Zero COVID
"England and Wales should look at the Independent Sage group’s “Zero Covid” approach that Scotland and Northern Ireland have committed to. Otherwise the odds are increasing that renewed lockdowns, damaging to society and the economy, will be imposed." https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/27/the-guardian-view-on-a-new-normal-holidays-abr...
@Hui Gao's paper on polyimide composites as a +ve electrode for Li-ion cells has just been published in ChemSusChem. Work performed at the @MIF & @livunisire in collaboration with Bingbing at Shenzhen University. Many thanks to @RSC Porous Materials Interest Group for the invitation, I am absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity. Tune in on August 12th if you fancy hearing me talk about our latest, mostly unpublished results regarding perfluorinated Ce-based MOFs in a thick Italian accent.
Our next @Hiden Isochema Ltd webinar will be given by Prof Marco Taddei ( @Marco Taddei) on Wednesday 12th August at 9AM BST. Title: "In situ adventures with perfluorinated Ce(IV)-based metal-organic frameworks" https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/4147109778796529422 NOTE: temporary move to a Wednesday slot.
I am looking forward to joining the great team at @King's Chemistry @King's College London as Reader in Chemistry next month! Thank you for the great e-meetings ahead of the move! @Dr Rivka Isaacson @James Harvey @Ismael Díez-Pérez @ BioMolecular Electronics Group @Andrew Surman et al.
when Spain says it's unfair to slap a nationwide quarantine on their country - because of regional variations - they do have a point https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/cases-2019-ncov-eueea
So pleased this is finally out! Organic photocatalysts for hydrogen production - looking at how chain length and backbone twisting influence material properties. Turns out oligomers can be as active as many polymer photocatalysts
Structure property relationships in polymer photocatalysts are often difficult to establish due their polydisperisty. @Cath Aitchison did some exciting work on oligomers using a range of techniques. Just published in @Chemical Science. Go and check it out! https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2020/SC/D0SC02675A#!divAbstract
