“Trump’s critics in the media have fallen into an insidious habit of taking his quotes criticizing the hordes who burn buildings and tear down statues, and reporting them as criticism of “racial justice protesters.” This is dishonest.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/07/07/medias-mischaracterization-trumps-mount-rushmore-...

6 deaths in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) yesterday. Or not. These deaths are backdated up to THREE months. Not one since June 13. But by the time they get to  @CNN and rest of the media, this tweet will be forgotten and all we will hear is how Western Pennsylvania is spiking....

It is absolutely crazy that someone feels comfortable writing and sending this. Why would any worthwhile publication want someone this intolerant working for them?

I sent a version of this to the editors of Vox. (I have redacted some bits that are internal to Vox and shouldn’t be aired publicly.)

The Washington Post’s Mt. Rushmore whopper called out here, and Tammy Duckworth’s as well: Premier press outlets and a U.S. senator flagrantly lied about the content of President Trump’s Mount Rushmore speech, writes  @Holman Jenkins https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-press-on-mount-rushmore-11594162964

I suspect that the very journalists who scoff at Trump’s description of the culture war all know that if they or their colleagues say something disparaging or even skeptical about Black Lives Matter, their jobs would instantly be at risk. https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/07/president-trump-mount-rushmore-speech-distorted-by-media/

Well of course, all those hysterical stories and editorials about his speeches Friday and Saturday were really about something he was going to say on Monday. Brilliant!

@Brit Hume Brit. He criticized NASCAR for getting rid of the Confederate flag today.

Excellent column on the Rushmore speech by ⁦ @Quin Hillyer⁩, who is no fan of Donald Trump. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columnists/trumps-rushmore-speech-was-monumentally-splendid

.@brithume rips the media for their coverage of President Trump's Mt. Rushmore speech:

"I don't think I've ever seen such dishonest and biased coverage of any event."

This editorial is simply insane. Yes, he criticized the violent rioters and radicals rampaging in the streets. But his speech was mostly a full-throated defense of America’s history and heroes, and cited not a confederate among them. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trump-plumbed-new-depths-of-depravity-this-fourth-of-july/20...

In a pandemic, infection numbers are a lousy way to measure the danger of the disease. Yes, people will get sick. But the question is who? And how sick? And what is the mortality rate? Is it going up, or down. Atlas gets this. https://www.kusi.com/dr-scott-atlas-disputes-covid-19-fear-mongering-tactics-from-our-health-officials/

Frederick Douglass? Really? This is a great example of the horrific state of affairs in history education in America. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/2020/07/05/frederick-douglass-statue-rochester-ny-re...

Much bad reporting and commentary these days is just slanted or misleading. What Duckworth said about Trump’s Rushmore speech, reported uncritically in much of the media, is flat-out false. https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/senator-duckworth-and-most-of-the-press-are-lying-about-trumps...

Taxpayers, parents and donors need to save schools from activists who claim to be teachers, writes John M. Ellis https://www.wsj.com/articles/campus-culture-seizes-the-streets-11593973851

This headline is flat-out false. Even story says she never mentioned Confederate statues.

And quite a thread it is

The only reason today’s news about hydroxychloroquine is so “surprising” is that the media spent months telling us it was deadly to score points against Trump.

Amazing that @CNN is only interested in tying hydroxychloroquine to @realDonaldTrump when it doesn’t work.

People dunking on the founding should appreciate that they’re taking a sledgehammer to the very soapbox they’re standing on. No founding, no free speech, no right to assemble, no due process. If you think that’s all just “white supremacy,” try protesting and carping without it.

Even worse, did you know ~10,000,000 Americans have died since  @Donald J. Trump became President? And over 20,000,000 died when  @Barack Obama was President! WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP DYING?!? THIS IS WRONG. WE MUST END DEATH. Or we can never celebrate anything ever again. Or go outside.

130,000 Americans dead. Time for some fireworks, baby.

So glad the Times does not permit opinions on its news pages. This headline doesn’t begin to reflect the bias in the story. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/03/us/politics/trump-coronavirus-mount-rushmore.html?referringSource...

Note the sneering reference in this news report of Trump pushing back against the effort to “quote tear down our history”

CNN: "President Trump will be at Mount Rushmore, where he’ll be standing in front of a monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans.”
