''I can't hear any whistling, just the clock ticking.''

1. In my career, I've been known to be critical of the  @SQA but have also worked closely with them on occasions. I have never known anyone working there who hasn't wished the best for all candidates and worked hard to achieve that.

Re-opening safely is like a game of snakes & ladders except there are no ladders, only snakes- and we’re all tied together in the game so that even if a small number don’t comply with rules to advance, we all go backwards & down the snake.

Wasted mask sales - National Audit Office steps in https://bit.ly/2XzZJsn

@Jo Maugham QC We’ve spent over double on PPE than any other European country! Yet our health care staff have been less equipped than most of them! The tories have used this pandemic to loot the public purse and line their and their friends pockets!

There is one concession to sensible governance: "Paper towels are counted in sleeves of 250 single sheets."

"Gloves are not counted as pairs" so when Boris Johnson boasts of "billions of items of PPE" just remember that 72.5% of them are single gloves. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-53672841

There's a little known table of what PPE has been distributed for use by the NHS in England. It shows that, in over five months, we only consumed 6.6m FFP2 facemasks. Goodness knows why we tried to buy 50m from Liz Truss' adviser, Andrew Mills (

Never, in peacetime, have we so needed to Trust a Government. Trust? Inept handling of #Covid, of #PPE, of Track and Trace. Wasted £Millions on Contracts to Cronies on goods that don’t work. Trust their Soundbites as they can’t answer questions? Trust my arse. Challenge the Filth

Mirror reporters drove the route one quiet Sunday morning - obviously after lockdown was over - and it took three hours and 35 minutes, driving in line with the speed limit. 🚗🚗🚗

EXCLUSIVE: Couple who say they saw Dominic Cummings on second lockdown trip to Durham complain to police watchdog. No 10 now under pressure to produce the evidence. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/dominic-cummings-second-lockdown-durham-22481257

Still stunned by the revelations that our UK Government have used Covid 19 to direct huge amounts of our money to their own friends. How many suckers like me & you work 40 hours a week only to have it diverted to conservatives? In a more civilised age we'd be lopping heids aff.

@JPCampbellBiz - Wash your hands keep your distance How did Brexiters think all of this would play out? Just compare what is happening with this opinion piece from 2016 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/04/29/eu-red-tape-is-suffocating-uk-economy-and-brexit-can...

UK govt to spend an initial £355m to help NI businesses do the customs paperwork required as a result of the Brexit deal. The Trader Support Service will see the govt act as a customs agent for NI importers https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-53685266

@Andrew Adonis 1) This is the tip of the iceberg. Syphoning public funds into tax havens is government policy. 2) Their media: 'send navy to stop illegal migrants!' 3) Changes to ensure the gov can't be challenged in court for breaking Parliament's laws will continue to be implemented 🤡🇬🇧

@Ruth Supports #FindBertie  @Stanhill Claret  @NHS Charities Together Strictly correct, but there's surely a strong argument that the charities exist to supply those items that can't be funded by the NHS because the budgets get blown on corrupt practices.

The Tories have received more than £11m from property developers since Boris Johnson became prime minister, an investigation has found. No wonder there is a bonfire of building regs.

Can't wait till they start labelling the  @The Telegraph  @The Spectator and other Boris Johnson boosters and employers as 'state-affiliated'

Interesting: Twitter has now started labelling certain news organisations as state-affiliated-media. Here are examples from @SputnikInt @RT_com and @CGTNOfficial

To say the masks "might not be safe" is to praise with faint damnation this extraordinary blunder. https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2020/08/06/world/europe/ap-eu-virus-outbreak-britain.html

Tories making money out of the pandemic. Really is anyone shocked?  #ToryCorruption

“Trust me, new planning laws aren’t about rich developers, but about local communities” says Robert Jenrick who saved rich developer £40m at the expense of local community.

“As an MP, Zahawi earns £74,962 a year. He also earns £241,500 a year from the Kurdish oil company Gulf Keystone, on top of regular bonuses. He is paid a further £40,000 a year by the recruitment company SThree.” https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jan/04/tory-mp-nadhim-zahawi-tax-haven-balshore-berkford-i...

This crowdfunder - which we set up to pursue the Pestfix case - is now also having to fund the Clandeboye case and the Ayanda case. We really do need to raise extra funds if we are to take these important cases to completion. Please help if you can. https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/108million/

Govt: “Britons! Be slim & healthy like Europeans!” Britons: “Great! Can we have Euro-style shorter working hours & commutes so we have time & energy to cook properly & exercise, & Euro-style wage & social security protection so we can afford to?” Govt: “no not like that”

Am I imagining this, or is Pestfix, who took £100m of taxpayer’s funds, now using taxpayer’s money to pay lawyers to try and prevent the taxpayer from finding out where their funds actually went? This is why we need an inquiry into the government’s awarding of PPE contracts.

Excellent piece by  @Peter Geoghegan on how the "European Research Group" transformed the terms of Brexit, why the taxpayer gave it more than £340,000, and why we don't know where the rest of its money came from or how it was spent. https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/dark-money-investigations/a-corruption-of-conservatism-how-a-cartel...

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Huge sums of public money have been handed over, without a tendering process, to companies which either haven't delivered the PPE or it's not been fit for purpose I've now written to the minister demanding answers

So why is Government routinely ignoring its own guidance requiring it to publish contracts within 20 days? 🤔 Please help us ask it, politely, for a little transparency around the huge sums it is spending. https://actionnetwork.org/forms/ppe-procurement?source=twitter&

Think about this for a moment... Our Govt gave £225m of taxpayers’ money to a £100 company, owned by a friend of Minister Liz Truss, for PPE that cannot be used... Yet people are living on the streets, children go hungry each day.  #ToryCorruption
